Sanguisorba tenuifolia 'Pink Elephant'
oriental burnet
- Position: full sun or partial shade
- Soil: poor-to-average, moist, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Flowering period: May to July
- Hardiness: fully hardy
A tall and elegant burnet, with pinkish-red, usually nodding flowerheads, that open from the top downwards. These seem to gracefully sway above the clumps of decorative foliage from mid summer to early autumn. The lacy green foliage has distinctive, slender leaflets that are notched at the edges, and these often take on colourful tints in autumn. They are great plants for adding vertical interest to the garden. - Garden care: Cut down spent flower heads in early spring. Divide congested plants in spring or autumn.
