Long, narrow, tapering spikes of pale lavender flowers from July to September above whorls of deep green leaves. A great plant for creating an impression in the garden towards the end of summer. Best planted towards the back of a sunny or partially shady border in fertile, moist, well-drained soil.

Divide plants in spring. Apply a generous 5-7cm mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant in spring.
