Trusses of fragrant, deep crimson-red flowers from July to October and slender, toothed dark green leaves. This spectacular, long-flowering phlox is more vigorous than other varieties. Ideal for a border in sun or partial shade, for best results it requires a moist but not water-logged soil, that doesn't dry out during summer.
- Garden care: Support with bamboo canes, brushwood or ring stakes before the flowers appear. Cut back and compost the faded flower-stems in late autumn. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plant in early spring.
- Goes well with: Alchemilla mollis, Salvia verticillata 'Purple Sensation', Verbena bonariensis, Allium hollandicum 'Purple Sensation', Echinops ritro, Veronicastrum virginicum f. album
