Tickseed
Coreopsis Limerock Ruby
- Position: full sun
- Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Flowering period: June to September
- Hardiness: fully hardy
Large, daisy-like flowers with yellow centres and rich red, velvety petals with jagged edges appear from June to September above narrow, linear foliage. This perennial forms upright, bushy mounds and is perfect for brightening up a summer border or for a border of 'hot' colours. It's best grown in a free-draining soil in full sun and it can also cope with dry conditions. It looks great teamed with ornamental grasses, and bees and butterflies love it too.
- Garden care: Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering and water well during hot, dry spells. Cut the faded flower-stems back down to ground level in autumn and compost.
