lettuce 'Little Gem'
- Position: full sun
- Soil: fertile and moisture retentive
A firm favourite for generations of gardeners, this compact Cos lettuce is one of the best you can grow, with crisp, sweet hearts densely packed with flavour. Because of their relatively small size Little Gem is an ideal choice for growing in containers, but it will do just as well in the open ground.
- Growing Instructions:Sow into trays or modules in the greenhouse or on a windowsill and harden off before planting out. Protect from slugs and cover early and late sowings with a cloche. Pull every other plant to use, as this leaves space for the remaining ones to fill out.
- Sow: March-July
- Harvest: May-September
- Approximate quantity: 1400 seeds.
