Hepatica 'Forest White' (Forest Series)
hepatica
- Position: partial shade
- Soil: fertile, moist but well-drained neutral to alkaline soil
- Rate of growth: slow growing
- Flowering period: March to April
- Hardiness: fully hardy
Pure white petals surround a prominent boss of pinkish stamens, creating very pretty, bowl-shaped flowers, which appear with the new foliage in early spring. Plant them in bold drifts to help illuminate a woodland floor or dapple them throughout a shady rockery. These pretty perennials are incredibly hard to come by though, so are perfect for those who have a penchant for rare plants. - Garden care: Hepaticas resent being moved, so try to plant them where they can remain undisturbed for several years. Apply a generous layer of mulch in autumn or immediately after flowering.
