A very attractive perennial that forms neat mounds of foliage, from which dark stems arise bearing nodding dark red buds. From early summer, these open to single apricot-orange, five-petalled flowers, each with a prominant boss of golden stamens. It makes a relatively long-flowering addition to hot-themed planting schemes - particularly if it is dead-headed regularly.
- Garden care: To prolong flowering, deadhead regularly. Lift and divide large clumps in early spring or late autumn.
