  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil, neutral soil
  • Rate of growth: average to fast
  • Flowering period: August to October
  • Other features: attractive, deep green foliage
  • Hardiness: frost hardy (may need winter protection)

    White, star-shaped flowers are highlighted by the rich green foliage, when they appear from late summer to mid autumn. After the flowers have faded, attractive seed heads will develop, and in milder winters it may retain some of its foliage. A twining clematis, it can be trained to cover a rose arch or trellis, and will be happiest in a sunny spot with some shade at its feet.

  • Garden care: Remove dead and damaged stems before growth begins in early spring, cutting all remaining stems back to where strong buds are visible. Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of of well-rotted garden compost around the base of the plant in early spring
