Nodding, green-flushed yellow bells appear in late spring or early summer (sometimes up to 6 on each stem), creating an attractive contrast to the grey-green foliage. Each flower can grow to around 4.5cm long, so the overall effect is quite striking. This is accented further by the tuft-like spray of foliage, which often appears above the flowers. A tough but beautiful plant, which will flourish in full sun or partial shade.
- Garden care: Plant 10cm (5in) deep and a similar distance apart from September to November in fertile, well-drained soil, and keep an eye out for slug and snail damage when the new foliage is emerging in spring.
