First introduced in 1910, this beautiful crocus might have an unfortunate name (we have asked the RHS to consider re-naming it), but when we saw it growing in a field in Holland, we just had to have it. It has magnificent, large, rich purple, goblet-shaped flowers, with an easy-going nature and vigorous growth.
