What each of the flowers means (and do they suit the person they are for?)

While roses are the age-old symbol of love, each colour of rose also has other meanings. The delicate pink roses mean perfect happiness, the yellow flowers are for joy and red roses are for beauty. A great bouquet for someone who is very special.

These roses are grown in Africa on a farm in Kenya, just under the equator. Due to the higher light intensity the roses have thicker leaves and wonderfully shaped buds. To ensure their freshness, the flowers are picked and flown from Kenya on the same day.

The reason why Crocus chose these flowers, apart from the fact that they are so beautiful, is that the grower plays an important social role in the Kenyan community. They have built a village for their employees with stone houses complete with electricity and water, a modern hospital with full medical facilities, a school, social centre and even a sports stadium, all free to their staff.
